Abstract

As part of the media audience, society today appears increasingly "dominated" by media, as if media has become a basic necessity akin to food, drink, and shelter. New media, as one form of media that attracts global attention, has now become a primary choice for meeting various informational needs. This media has transformed into an "addiction" for society due to its vast capability to provide the necessary information. According to data from We Are Social, the number of internet users in Indonesia reached 202.6 million in 2021. The most popular social media platforms among Indonesian internet users include YouTube, WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Consequently, the use of new media requires a wise, intelligent, precise, appropriate, and proper approach, aiming to enhance the quality of communication and interaction in daily life. Digital media literacy has become increasingly essential to master, as it encompasses technical skills, cognitive aspects, and socio-emotional dimensions in navigating the ever-evolving digital environment. To develop quality human resources, the state of education and educational institutions must be evaluated to determine whether they align with the rapid global developments. The challenge lies in how the education system can keep pace with significant advancements in various fields, such as science, business, medicine, communication, and others, which have progressed much faster compared to the previous centuries.
