Internalisasi Nilai-Nilai Karakter Peserta Didik melalui Implementasi Tata Tertib Sekolah

Abstract

Character internalization through school regulations is a critical dimension of moral education in Indonesian Islamic schools. This study examines how school rules function as an instrument of character education, exploring the conceptual basis of character internalization, the role of school regulations as a medium for character formation, the practical implementation of character values through those regulations, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors that shape outcomes. Using a qualitative approach grounded in library research and field observation, the study finds that well-designed and consistently enforced school regulations can effectively instill values such as discipline, responsibility, honesty, and mutual respect. The findings also reveal that teacher role-modeling and parental involvement are decisive supporting factors, whereas inconsistent enforcement and a lack of student awareness constitute the main inhibiting factors. The study concludes that school regulations are most effective as character education tools when they are internalized by students rather than imposed externally, and when their moral rationale is clearly communicated and reinforced by all educational stakeholders.
