Bencmarking Dalam Pengembangan Mutu Pendidikan Islam

Benchmarking was initially developed in the business and industrial sectors as a method for comparing products, services, and best practices to maintain competitive advantage. Over time, this approach has been adapted to the educational field as a strategic tool for improving the quality of institutional services and flagship programs. This article discusses the concept of benchmarking in education by focusing on its scope, stages, and role in enhancing institutional performance. The discussion covers key educational aspects, including graduate competencies, curriculum content, quality of teachers and staff, facilities and infrastructure, teaching methods, learning assessment systems, financial management, extracurricular activities, as well as leadership and institutional governance. The findings indicate that benchmarking functions as a systematic performance evaluation tool by comparing an institution’s current condition with relevant best practices. This process enables educational institutions to conduct internal analysis and make strategic adjustments on an ongoing basis. Therefore, benchmarking can serve as an effective approach to maintaining competitiveness and promoting continuous and structured quality improvement in education.
