Abstract
Islamic education is crucial in shaping character and preparing generations with integrity. The optimization of the Islamic education system is needed in the global era and amidst complex social challenges. The partnership between pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and formal schools offers an intriguing approach to address this issue. This article aims to elucidate the significance of such partnership in optimizing Islamic education. The partnership combines religious approaches and academic curricula, enhancing the quality of education, providing broader access, and equipping students to meet the demands of the contemporary world. This research contributes novel insights by summarizing the novelty and relevance of this partnership within the context of Islamic education. The findings indicate that the partnership between pesantren and formal schools optimizes Islamic education through the integration of religious and academic approaches.
