Abstract

The purpose of marriage is to build a family that is peaceful, loving, and merciful.
This concept is derived from Surah Ar-Rum, verse 21 in the Qur'an, which states that Allah
created spouses (husband and wife) so that they may live a life filled with peace, love, and
mercy. As explained regarding the legal aspects, virtues, and objectives of marriage, it can be
concluded that the marriage of an adult man who has a strong sexual desire but is not yet
financially capable is a recommended practice (Sunnah). This is based on several
considerations. First, there is a hadith narrating the Prophet marrying a companion with the
dowry of teaching the Qur'an, which was due to the companion's impoverished condition.
Second, there is evidence from the Qur'an, specifically Surah An-Nur, verse 32, which explains
that one of the benefits of marriage is to seek the grace of Allah and the sustenance that Allah
will provide due to the responsibility of supporting the family that will be shouldered.
