Abstract

One of the problems that often occurs in married couples in life after marriage is the
involvement of parents and in-laws in their household. This is indeed difficult to avoid. Even if you
decide to live alone, that is, to have your own home, that doesn't guarantee a peaceful life if you can't
be patient with the many trials in life. One of them is the mother-in-law who keeps watching and even
tries to always be involved in every problem that occurs. This is what happened to several married
couples in Tanjunganom Village, Tanjunganom sub-district, Nganjuk Regency in navigating their
household life due to parental intervention. Based on this, this paper will reveal the practice of parental
intervention in child households in the Tanjunganom Village and how parents intervene in child
households in the Tanjunganom Village from the perspective of maqasid Syari'ah. Based on the
results of the discussion and research conducted, it can be concluded that the practice of parental
intervention in child households in the Tanjunganom Village is caused by the husband's maintenance
of his wife who is considered insufficient and not having their own place to live is a factor causing
children to still live with their parents. Intervention has its own impact, the negative impact is that the
child's family becomes less private with their partner so that they do not have space to manage their
own household. Whereas in the view of maqasid syari'ah, parental intervention in the child's
household, whether intervention in terms of living, housing, or parenting, will bring mafasid, while the
purpose of being a household is to seek benefit, namely to perfect worship, increase offspring, seek
peace and receive God's blessing. Parental intervention in the child's household can cause rifts in the
child's household, while the parents' obligation is to educate and care for the child only until the child
is married after which the parents have no authority.
