Abstract

The world of students is at the peak phase of formal
education before entering the world of work, but they are still often
trapped in efforts to achieve academic skills that ignore the
potential for intrapersonal skills and interpersonal skills. Then
service-learning is needed as a vehicle for developing student soft
skills. This research is an evaluation of student soft skills
development through service learning at the community service
lecture at STAI Darussalam Nganjuk, East Java. The research design
uses a descriptive-qualitative approach. The determination of
informants uses purposive sampling with documentation,
interviews and observations. as a data collection technique. As for
the data analysis using content analysis. The results of the study
show that the phase of achieving student soft skills in the
intrapersonal aspect begins with emotional awareness while in the
group as a provision to actualize themselves in the out-group with
the support of empathy and respect for others. In the interpersonal
realm, the communication skills aspect becomes the dominant
student capital to actualize the potential of the out-group. The
development (service learning) of communication skills is the most
prominent component for developing student soft skills.
