KIPRAH KIAI & PESANTREN DALAM PERGULATAN POLITIK NASIONAL DI INDONESIA

Abstract

Discussing the world of politics in Islamic boarding schools
seems to be an unusual thing. This unusualness is more because there is a
conception of someone who places Islamic boarding schools as mere
places for the reproduction of an-sich scholarship, separate from the real
world (real politics). Even though this is not the case, pesantren is a
replica of life that combines various life skills, including political skills.
Whereas in history in our leadership, pesantren at the national level has
been prominent in the era of the Japanese occupation. When the Japanese
Military Government asked KH. Hasyim Asy'ari to lead Shumubu (a kind of
Religious Affairs Office) in Jakarta. In August 1945 the Japanese sent
Maruto Nitimihardjo to Jombang to ask KH. Hasyim Asy'ari became
President of the Republic of Indonesia, but he refused. After that, many
students took part at the national level. The peak is when KH.
Abdurrahman Wahid (Gus Dur) was elected President of the Republic of
Indonesia. This article focuses on the study of the Gait of Kiai & Pesantren
in the National Political Struggle in Indonesia. The aim is to analyze
political education in Islamic boarding schools as a place for reproduction
of ideal leader candidates in Indonesia, with historical evidence that kiai &
pesantren have been active in political struggles and have taken part in
coloring the national political arena in Indonesia, such as: the
establishment of Dar al-Islam , the Jihad resolution, the appointment of a
guardian al-Amr ad daruru bi asy-Syaukah for the first president of the
Republic of Indonesia, the establishment of the Jakarta Charter
Nationalism, and the acceptance of the Single Principle of Pancasila.
