Abstract

The anxiety that Amina Wadud feels is a patriarchal
phenomenon in Muslim society. He views the marginalization of the role of
women in the social order that continues to this day. In fact, according to
him, the Koran carries the value of justice. The next concern is the
traditional interpretation written by male exclusivity. During the
development of the interpretation of the Koran, Amina Wadud did not
hear about the role of women in the interpretation of the verses of the
Koran. This means that the views and experiences of men are included in
the interpretation that is carried out without the participation and views
of women. This article explores Amina Wadud's New Direction of Gender
& Feminism Interpretation in Qur'an And Woman, Rereading The Sacred
Text From A Woman's Perspective which captures the spirit of the Qur'an
and the ideas of the Qur'an as a whole, holistically and integratively and
relatively good to be applied in order to develop a gender sensitive
interpretation discourse. Amina Wadud reveals the historical context of
the Qur'anic verses relating to companions in heaven starting from the
concept of hur 'ayn in the Mecca period, to developing the concept of zawj
in the Madaniyah verses, to the highest level of enjoyment of heaven,
namely closeness and being a lover. God.
