Abstract

This study aims to explore the role of the “Madrasah Canteen” which is trustworthy and managed by students at Madrasah Aliyah Darussalam as one of the educational facilities in the management of Islamic economic learning and efforts to build the character of the Islamic generation. Through a qualitative approach, this study collected data from observations, interviews with students and teachers, and analysis of documents related to canteen management. The results of the study indicate that the Madrasah Canteen not only functions as a place to provide food, but also as a practical laboratory for students to apply the principles of Islamic economics, such as trustworthiness, honesty, and social responsibility. The implementation of a non-cash payment system with a card-based e-money type in transactions in the canteen helps reduce the risk of fraud and errors, and teaches students to manage their finances wisely through spending limits. In addition, this experience increases students' awareness of the importance of living simply and according to their needs as in the teachings of Islam. This study also highlights the need to develop teaching materials that are more relevant to the real context, as well as training support for teachers to optimize the teaching of Islamic economics. Overall, this study concludes that effective management of Islamic economic learning through real practices such as the Amanah Madrasah Canteen can contribute significantly to the formation of the character of the Islamic generation in madrasas.
